Taylor Schulte, CFP®, co-founder of The AGC, was awarded the #2 spot on the Investopedia Top 100 Financial Advisors of 2020 list last week.
Each year, Investopedia creates its list of advisors who have been influential in bringing financial education to diverse audiences.
For 2020, that also meant addressing the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. Volatile markets and record job losses created a troubled economy and increased anxiety for many Americans.
Through The AGC community, his blog, and the Stay Wealthy podcast, Schulte is addressing common concerns about the pandemic’s effects on financial markets, retirement goals, and household finances. He reaches tens of thousands of readers and listeners across the world with his straightforward retirement planning methodology and encouraging tone.
Cathy Curtis, CFP®, President of Curtis Financial Planning says:
“Taylor had successfully created more than one platform to educate his clients and the public about personal finance, so when the trials of 2020 hit, he was ready to step in and be a calming, reassuring voice of reason that I’m sure helped many navigate through the pandemic.”
Creating more accessibility for financial literacy has been a goal of Schulte’s since his early days as an investment advisor.
“I started writing, podcasting, and working with financial literacy programs in an attempt to reach and help more people. There are only so many hours in a day which limits the number of people I can work with one-to-one. Through these other channels, I’m able to get good financial information in more retirement savers’ hands.”
The #2 spot on Investopedia’s list is the third time Schulte has been named to its Top 100 financial advisors list. He was also recognized in 2018 and 2019.
“To be chosen three times from a field of 100,000 independent financial advisors for Investopedia’s Top 100 is beyond humbling. More than anything, this recognition gives me the energy and motivation to keep going and continue my financial education efforts. It’s a good reminder that people are in need of clear, honest, and objective financial information.”
In particular, Schulte’s retirement podcast helps thousands of people across the country make smart decisions with their money every week. In fact, the popular show consistently ranks among the Apple Top 100 investing podcasts and was named as a Top 10 Personal Finance Podcasts by Forbes.
“Taylor’s top-notch podcast provides financial education to consumers who otherwise wouldn’t have access to it and those looking to expand their financial literacy. The valuable content he delivers has been influential for me and I bet the same can be said for his listeners.”

Schulte has also received several awards from San Diego Magazine and was named an InvestmentNews 40 Under 40 recipient in 2016.
